It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the voting results.

The resolution was supported by 13 countries, Russia and China opposed.

The project proposed by Western countries envisaged the extension of the existing mechanism of cross-border humanitarian assistance to Syria until January 10, 2021.

Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said that Moscow had previously proposed its own version of the resolution, designed to extend the humanitarian assistance for six months.

“We have proposed our own version of the resolution. It focuses exclusively on humanitarian aspects while reducing the checkpoints through which assistance is delivered, ”he said.

Earlier, Nebenzya said that in connection with the cardinal change in the situation in Syria, Russia has prepared its own draft resolution on Syria, which provides for the reduction of checkpoints from four to two.
