- In Västerås, we do not give any good grades to our municipal schools in any case, says chairman of the education and labor market committee Karin Lidman (S).

According to Roger Haddad (L), as many as 25 per cent do not complete their upper secondary education due to the fact that students leave primary school without sufficient knowledge.

- When comparing grades from final grades in grade nine and first grade in high school, we look at deviations. This means that many students who do not have sufficient prior knowledge have been allowed to enter high school and are then knocked out, says Roger Haddad (L)

Throughput increases again

According to a report from the National Agency for Education, the throughput of pupils in the state has increased in recent years. The increase has mainly occurred in the university preparatory programs.

- In Västerås we have seen a positive development over time. More people pass their high school diploma in three years and the grading results have gone up, especially on our vocational programs, says Karin Lidman (S).
