Police are given the right to dispose of weapons after a medical alert

The Supreme Administrative Court has now ruled that the police may seize both weapons and a license if a doctor has reported that the person for health reasons is unsuitable to own a firearm. According to the court, it should be sufficient - for whatever medical reason.

The background to the decision is a goal in Östergötland that has been raised to the highest level. The after the police took weapons from a man in the county. Thus, according to the Supreme Administrative Court, there may be reason to quickly seize weapons to prevent violent crime or the accident, even if the doctor does not provide any grounds for his assessment.
