On March 14 at lunchtime, a 55-year-old suddenly attacked customers inside Ica Maxi in Olofström, armed with one of the store's own knives. A man was stabbed in the back, but was saved by his backpack. Then a woman was stabbed in the stomach and sustained life-threatening injuries.

The 55-year-old is now charged with two counts of attempted murder and the police's preliminary investigation includes images from the store's surveillance cameras that show when Aksel Hansen stops the knife-man.

Never hesitated

For 12 years, Aksel Hansen has worked as an ambulance driver in Copenhagen, which has shaped him into a fearless and actionable citizen who does not hesitate to help.

As he stood looking at books on sale at Ica Maxi in Olofström, he suddenly heard a woman screaming that she had been stabbed by a man. Aksel saw her blood on the floor, and as soon as he saw the woman being taken care of by shop staff, he ran after the knife-armed man.

- I was going to stop him so he didn't attack more.
