Dubai Roads and Transport Authority is working on a new project that will add a new space for hiking and sports in the heart of the city.

And it appears from the architectural model of the project "Sunset Beach Walk", which was viewed by the "Emirates Today", that it is a resort in which vast areas of trees and plants extend. Its beach areas appear surrounded by green belts, which are divided into individual spaces, each with a set of attractive natural and recreational facilities.

The project was approved last May, to be implemented by the authority as part of a package of tourism and entertainment projects, to be completed during the coming period.

The project is located along Jumeirah Street, starting from a point near the Al-Athar Street from the direction towards Burj Al Arab, to a point near the intersection of Al-Manara Street with Jumeirah Street.

The project area extends inland towards the Arabian Gulf, to combine between its beach area, water islands, tourist facilities and trails for running and walking.

The "Sunset Beach Walk" project is a new marine destination, which includes family entertainment areas occupying a beach area of 80 thousand square meters, connected with the Jumeirah Beach Walk.

The project includes unique examples of a group of floating islands near the Dubai Water Canal, with a total area of 107 thousand square meters. It also includes modern designs of green hills and sandy hills, private parking, public facilities and retail space.

The architectural model of the project reveals that it is a green resort, not only because of the plants and trees scattered throughout it, and along its paths, but also because of the presence of solar energy units that will provide the project with the energy required to operate and lighting its various facilities.

The project package, which was approved, includes the Hanging Garden Project, which is a new pedestrian bridge, with a length of 380 meters, a height of 60 meters, and an area of 3422 square meters.

The bridge connects the two banks of the Dubai Creek, and consequently many of the city's landmarks. It is a green corridor that flies over the Creek with an area of 1198 square meters, including trails of different levels for running and bicycles. It also reveals a panoramic view of the landmarks of the ancient and modern city of Dubai.

The group of approved projects included the "Sheikh Zayed Road Walk" project, which is located between the Dubai Trade Center and the International Financial Center metro stations. His idea is to take advantage of the space below the Dubai Metro Bridge, and transform it into a green space with a modern nature, which is open to visitors to practice their hobby in walking and using bicycles two and a half kilometers long.

The walkway includes three main points, the bazaar, the technology park and the urban park, on an area of approximately 54,000 square meters.

The group also includes the "Deira Square" project, which is located on an area of 35 thousand square meters, to include urban public spaces that will be a haven for families, residents of the surrounding areas and lovers of outdoor walking. It will be distinguished by its modern design of shaded urban parks, which provide a renewed style of social life. It includes places for events, walking and public restrooms, and parking for multi-storey vehicles under the yard.

In 2016, the Emirate of Dubai was able to accomplish a geographical and environmental milestone that reshaped the urban landscape of the city when it built the Dubai Water Canal, which reached the waters of the Dubai Creek with the waters of the Arabian Gulf from the other side, and maintained the quality and level of circulation of its waters. It also closed the waterways on a circle that surrounded the heart of the city with water from all directions.

The Dubai Water Canal was established with a length of three kilometers, and a width ranging between 80 and 120 meters, to extend from the Business Bay area, and crosses Sheikh Zayed Street between the intersection of Al-Safa and the first intersection, passing through the Al-Safa Park, Al-Wasl Street and the second Jumeirah area, all the way to the Arabian Gulf Sea, specifically at the Beach Park Jumeirah located in the Jumeirah 1 area.
