With our correspondent in Chile, Naïla Derroisné

More than 225 of the 250 Chilean municipalities in the country participated in this consultation, which is not compulsory. The Chilean Association of Municipalities is the source of this consultation . And this number of participating municipalities is historic. In all, 47% of them have set up an internet voting system. The rest opted for paper.

Chileans surveyed on three categories of questions

You have to connect with a number assigned to each Chilean. And then they ask for the municipality where you vote, "explains Sebastian Diaz, 29, who voted from his smartphone .

Then, the Chileans are surveyed on three categories of questions: institution, social, and finally a more territorial vote. From the first question Sebastian does not hesitate a second. " Do you agree or not that Chile should have a new constitution? I agree ”.

For people who are not comfortable with the internet, some municipalities such as that of Nunoa welcome and help them. At the back of the village hall, three computers are lined up. I have come to fulfill my duty as a citizen . I could have voted alone on the internet but it would have been long. The gentleman was very kind, he said to me: "I will help you". So I accepted, ”says Ignacio, 90, who has just voted.

Retirement, education and health at the heart of concerns

The vice-president of the Chilean Association of Municipalities ensures that the results of the vote will be transmitted to the government. " We hope that the government takes this consultation into account and begins to develop a roadmap respecting the needs that people have now, in the short, medium and long term, " explains Ana María Silva.

And among the most urgent social demands of Chileans, we find the theme of pensions, education and even health.
