On Sunday evening, the Public Prosecution of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia issued an order to file a general criminal lawsuit against those involved in the circulation of a video clip on social media, which caused discontent in the Kingdom.

According to the Saudi newspaper “Al-Watan” and “Sabat”, an official source at the Public Prosecution confirmed that “based on what was filed by the Public Prosecution Monitoring Unit regarding the circulation of a video clip on social media, its content prejudices religious values, and professes to violate morals And ridicule them, and photographing, producing, storing and sending them via modern technology, the Public Prosecution issued its order, based on what is required by the public interest, to initiate a general criminal case against him.

The official pointed out that this lawsuit is based on Article 17 of the Law of Criminal Procedure, stressing that the procedures for inference have been initiated, after verifying the authenticity of the passage and the percentage of those who appeared in it, to arrest those involved and complete the legal procedures against them.

The source stated that the Public Prosecution in this regard tracks everything that involves prejudice to religious values ​​and public morals, and constitutes a crime under penalty of criminal accountability in accordance with the relevant regulations and instructions.

A video clip posted on social media platforms angered the Saudis, in which a young man appears on a girl in a room, before he removes her cloak while repeating "the time of the abaya is over" and that this time is the time for entertainment, and then kisses her hand.

The singers described the video as aiming to intentionally offend Saudi Arabia by linking decency to entertainment, and demanded that those involved be held to account.
