The overwhelming UN vote on the decision to extend the mission of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) for three years was widely welcomed on both the Arab and Palestinian levels, in affirming that it constituted a victory for international law and for the rights of Palestinian refugees, until their issue was finally resolved, in accordance with United Nations resolutions .

In Cairo, Saeed Abu Ali, Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories in the Arab League, stressed that voting in favor of the decision by an overwhelming majority confirms the strength of political support, which UNRWA enjoys, according to the mandate given to it by Resolution (302), until a fair solution is found. He stressed that this landslide victory, which granted the agency's mandate until June 30, 2023, with a majority of 169 votes, nine abstentions, and opposition from the United States and Israel, evidence of the entire world standing with the Palestinian people, their historical rights, and their just cause.

He also expressed his appreciation to the countries that voted in favor of this historic decision, in addition to a number of decisions related to "UNRWA" and the Special Committee to Investigate Israeli Practices Affecting the Human Rights of the Palestinian People, calling on the international community to redouble efforts and work to implement its decisions on the issue Palestinian, and by pressing the occupation authority to implement the two-state solution and achieve a just peace, in accordance with international law and international legitimacy resolutions.

In Ramallah, the President of the Palestinian National Council, Salim al-Zanoun, said that "Palestine has withstood the American-Israeli coalition, which is hostile to the rights of our Palestinian people."

The leader of Hamas, Osama Al-Muzaini, said during a central celebration that the movement held its 32th anniversary in the center of Gaza City, that Hamas is keen on the necessity of unifying the Palestinian people and restoring the internal cohesion.

Al-Muzaini added: “We are ready to appeal to the Palestinian street, through comprehensive elections, and we in Hamas have finished forming the preparatory committee for the elections, and we will contest them for the sake of our people.”

On October 7, the Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, commissioned the Central Elections Committee to start preparing for legislative elections, to be followed by three months after a presidential election.

On the other hand, Al-Muzaini threatened that Hamas "will not hesitate to impose new equations, unless the unjust Israeli siege on the Gaza Strip is removed", imposed since mid-2007.

He said: "Our rights cannot be subject to bargaining or compliments, and the international community and the Arab states must take effective action to end the siege of Gaza."
