Al-Amimi indicated - in statements on the sidelines of the start of preparatory meetings for the Conference of the States Parties to the Convention against Corruption, which Abu Dhabi will host tomorrow - that the UAE is one of the countries seeking to involve the private sector in the anti-corruption process, explaining that the country is about to present the development of its experience during the conference, where there is Coordination at a large level with the competent authorities in the state, in addition to decision-making centers, to complete any deficiencies in the legislative side on fighting corruption.

In detail, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, in Abu Dhabi tomorrow, the activities of the Conference of the States Parties Signing the Anti-Corruption Agreement, with the participation of 3000 experts and specialists from 185 countries, is considered the largest international gathering to discuss issues related to fighting corruption.

The global conference, organized by the Audit Bureau at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center "ADNEC", aims at making policies aimed at improving the ability of states parties to combat corruption and enhancing international cooperation to combat it. The conference also seeks to improve the capacity of states parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption and its cooperation To achieve the goals of the agreement in order to encourage its implementation and review, through activities, procedures and methods of work to achieve these goals.

In preparation for the convening of the international conference, a number of side and preparatory sessions were launched yesterday, during which a number of experiences of some countries, challenges of combating corruption and strengthening international cooperation were reviewed, in addition to presenting an initiative adopted by the government of the country, with the aim of legalizing and organizing government purchases via electronic platforms.

In statements on the sidelines of the preparatory sessions for the conference, Al-Amimi confirmed that a memorandum of the discussions and results of the side meetings of the conference, which started yesterday and ending today, was submitted to the leaders and officials of the international conference, whose activities begin tomorrow, to take the necessary decisions and recommendations regarding them.

Al-Amimi said: "The first day of the preparatory sessions dealt with a discussion of the items on aspects of cooperation, information exchange and training and the mechanisms that lead to it to implement the United Nations Convention against Corruption, especially since corruption has become a global phenomenon and is a transcontinental crime."

He added, "The UAE government has adopted initiatives with the Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Finance, in coordination with the Audit Bureau, in order to legalize and regulate government procurement through electronic platforms." He pointed out that the UAE is one of the countries seeking to involve the private sector in the anti-corruption process.

Al-Amimi stressed that the signatories of the anti-corruption mechanism, which amounts to about 186 countries, are committed to the conditions contained in the agreement, pointing out that the UAE has achieved during the first review session of the conference very honorable results in relation to international assessments concerned with completing the system of anti-corruption legislation.
