An attack took place Friday, December 13 in Ghazni, in the center of the country. Afghan security forces have been targeted by an undercover insurgent group. Assessment: at least 9 soldiers killed. The Taliban continue their fight despite the resumption of talks with the Americans.

The information is confused. Local authorities say a pro-government militia was infiltrated by a commando of seven Taliban who fled after the attack.

The Defense Ministry denies and speaks of an attack on soldiers by infiltrated Taliban. The armed group for its part claims an attack on an Afghan military base that killed dozens of soldiers.

This attack comes two days after another which targeted the area around the American air base at Bagram north of Kabul. Two people were killed, dozens more injured. The victims are almost all civilians.

The American envoy for the peace talks had expressed his indignation and announced a break in the bilateral discussions that resumed in Doha in Qatar between the Taliban and the Americans. They were canceled by Donald Trump last September to everyone's surprise.

The President of the United States, who visited Kabul just under three weeks ago, had announced the resumption of talks . The cease-fire is one of the negotiating points on which the Taliban still refuse to give in.
