Earlier this week, we told that the cultural committee in Gothenburg is facing extensive savings requirements. The administration proposes that SEK 20 million be saved, and among other things, six of the city's libraries are threatened with closure as part of the savings package.

Now on Monday, the Cultural Committee will discuss the budget, but already on Friday evening the alliance sent out a press release stating that they do not support the administration's savings proposal to close down the libraries.

- We never wanted to close down the libraries. Now we have worked through the proposal, and we do not choose that part, says Ann Catrine Fogelgren (L) to SVT Nyheter Väst.

What should you save on instead?

- We present that on Monday, says Ann Catrine Fogelgren.

The proposal for the closure of the libraries was met by a storm of criticism. One of those who took part in the protests was the Gothenburg musician Jens Lekman, who on Friday afternoon held a protest concert at Hjällbo library.

- I wouldn't have done music if I hadn't had Hjällbo's library, he says.
