Following criticism from a relative whose wife was lying on the floor of a restaurant with a broken arm and had to wait for an ambulance for two hours, hospital director Lena Carlsson says it is sad and regrettable.

- Those who sit and prioritize are professional, but in the individual case we understand that it can be difficult, she says.

Unable to receive more

When the woman then came to Sundsvall hospital, the doctors wanted to move her to Örnsköldsvik.

- We had an extraordinary situation at the hospital in Sundsvall, with many overcrowding. In the end, you cannot receive more if you want to maintain patient safety, says Lena Carlsson.

She believes that the lack of places is partly due to the lack of staff and partly because the municipality does not have places to offer patients who are finished care, so they stay and occupy places in the hospital.
