A commercial statistic recently released by Dubai Customs showed that the value of Dubai's foreign trade in foodstuffs during the first half of this year amounted to about 44 billion dirhams, distributed on imports worth 26.9 billion dirhams, exports worth 8.1 billion dirhams, and re-exports, with a value Nine billion dirhams.

According to the statistics, meat, rice, flour, sugar, milk, tea, dates, chocolate and nuts topped the list of food items included in Dubai's foreign trade.

The Director of Statistics and Studies at Dubai Customs, Naseem Al Muhairi, confirmed to «Emirates Today» the Foundation’s keenness to facilitate the movement of trade in foodstuffs to provide the needs of local markets from them, using the latest smart technologies in completing customs transactions to ensure fast food access to markets without delay, and with quality High quality meets consumer requirements.

She added that the department follows precise and smart procedures in food inspection and inspection to protect the community’s health, safety and food security, and achieve the highest levels of excellence in providing services and facilities for food merchants, to enable them to obtain real added value that enhances their ability to benefit from the unique competitive advantages provided by Dubai.
