James Savage is also surprised by Labour's huge collapse, but believes it is largely because Jeremy Corbyn has been so unclear in his message about Brexit.

- Boris had a clear message and people are extremely tired of Brexit. Corbyn was less clear. His line had meant more trouble and more uncertainty. People have chosen a way forward, Savage tells the Morning Studio.

The Local founder also points out that Corbyn's election platform was too far to the left, and that "the distance between metropolitan, left-wing Corbyn and the perceived reality among people in the countryside was too great".

Now Brexit is waiting

Brexit will now be implemented and the UK will leave the EU on January last year.

- Brexit will take place with Boris Johnson's agreement. What is interesting is what happens next. Because Boris Johonson has a large majority, he has a great freedom to form the future agreement with the EU and we do not know if he will choose a soft or hard path, says Savage and continues.

- We know that there are people in the party who want a soft Brexit but also people who want to pull him out of there.

He talks about a united nation, what does that mean?

- A united nation can be interpreted differently, when conservatives use a united nation it is more from a liberal conservative view. That is, conservatism that is more in the middle. It may mean that Boris Johnson wants to rule the UK from the middle.
