The organizing authority of the elections announced in the night that 39.93% of the voters had voted for this presidential election. A low score that weakens the authorities.

This participation rate has been expected. The authorities gave it a little after midnight when four of the five candidates announced either their victory or their participation in the second round. Conflicting statements that accentuated the confusion.

The electoral authority finally announced that there had been 39.93% participation, ten points less than in 2014. This is especially the lowest participation rate for a presidential election in Algeria. 9.6 million voters voted, out of 43 million registered.

From the beginning of the evening, representatives of the organizing authority of the elections declared that a rate of 40% would be " appreciable ". A way of kicking and refusing to recognize that the election did not generate the general craze claimed by the authorities.

The results will be given this Friday afternoon by the same authority, at 14h (UT). A call to protest is launched for the 43rd week in a row.

Disturbed poll in Kabylie

The Independent National Electoral Authority (ANIE) says the vote had to be interrupted in the morning in Bejaia, Tizi Ouzou and Bouira. These three wilayas have the lowest participation rate at the national level.

There we are in recycling, we are in the fifth term without Bouteflikha, we are in the continuity of the Bouteflikha regime without Bouteflikha. The pseudo-debate was a masquerade of which the people is the only victim

The election was held on a Thursday, but this day has sometimes looked Friday, traditional day of protests for several months against the presidential and against the system at the head of the country. Protesters gathered, or tried to do so, yesterday, across Kabylia as well as elsewhere in the capital, and in other areas of the country.

During the day yesterday, several incidents were recorded in the wilayas of Kabylie. An Anie's office burned down, a voting center ransacked, for example.

Said Sahli, vice-president of the Algerian League of Human Rights, talks about a tense situation, in places and times, with some clashes between police and protestors, and the use of tear gas and rubber balls.
