Young citizen Mohammed Abdullah Al Habsi, (24 years old), made every effort to obtain a bid from the prestigious University of Leeds in the United Kingdom to study for a PhD in the field of materials science without the need for a master’s degree, after he obtained his bachelor’s degree in 2017, with the highest honors In mechanical engineering from the same university, which was then ranked fifth globally in this specialty.

Al Habsi, the scholarship to study by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), obtained a high school diploma from the Applied Technology High School in the Engineering Sciences Department of Energy, with a rate of 97.2%, and was honored at the ceremony of the early Emirates by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.

Al Habsi stated that he worked on several projects in various fields during his university career with leading international companies, such as "Rolls-Royce", "Land Rover", "Robinson Helicopters" and many other companies. He recently worked on a team from the University of Leeds to develop electric car batteries with Tesla International, and attended numerous international scientific conferences.

He pointed out that he implemented many projects during the secondary stage, including programming robots, and he achieved 100 volunteer hours. This is in addition to the projects of the period of mechanical engineering study, the most important of which is programming a robot that can locate the swellings in the human body, which contributes to facilitating the procedures for removing them, a project of designing hydraulic motion aids with Rolls-Royce and a car programming project with Land Rover, and his team at the university won the honor of the two companies.

He added that he participated in the competition of designing and making naora to generate electricity from water movement and won with his team. He also participated in the design of the counterweight wing of a helicopter with Robinson International Company for helicopters. In the graduation project, he focused on how to reduce the corrosion of pipes used for oil and gas transportation.

Al-Habsi is working on the completion of the doctoral project «which focuses on understanding and studying the properties and nature of materials highly resistant to corrosion and failure, in environments with difficult conditions in oil and gas wells».

He and his colleagues in the "Emirati Student Society" succeeded in organizing many initiatives, including the "Year of Tolerance Initiative", which aims to distribute healthy meals to the homeless in the last Friday of each month, and visit the House of the Elderly.

Al-Habsi is the Events Officer at the World Youth Council, which carries the best experiences in the United Kingdom to the UAE, and reflects a bright image of the country abroad.

He explained that he participates in many volunteer activities with his fellow scholars inside and outside the university, as well as in training courses, events and various educational activities.

Al Habsi participated in organizing workshops for scholarship students, including an event with the Emirates British Business Council, with the aim of introducing companies to the importance of providing job opportunities for scholarships so that they will be their ambassadors in the future, and contributed with his colleagues in providing training opportunities for students that allow them to experience the labor market.
