Hallstahem's original bid was to raise rents by 3.3 percent, something the Tenants Association opposed. When Hallstahem interrupted the negotiations, the parties were still far apart. The tenant association's bid is 1.6 percent and the company has agreed to agree on 2.9 percent.

For small profits

Hallstahem believes that in recent years profits of three to five million SEK are too small in relation to sales.

- We also see that Hallstahem has a small economy, but we still regard it as relatively stable and see no reason to raise rents in a way that will hit hard for many households, says the tenant association's negotiator Johan Kretz in a press release.

Now the dispute will be settled in the Rental Market Committee. This means that next year's rents will start to apply later, but exactly when is unclear.
