The French are divided equally on both the content of the pension reform presented by Edouard Philippe and the continuation of the mobilization, according to an Elabe poll for BFMTV released Thursday.

Overall, one out of two respondents is in favor of the project presented while 49% say they are opposed. The remaining 1% is "no opinion".

The French strongly support the introduction of a minimum pension of 1,000 euros for a full career at the Smic (81%), the increase of the pension of 5% from the first child to be attributed to one of the parents (79 %), the elimination of special schemes approved (70%) or the transition to the universal scheme for persons born after 1975 (63%).

On the other hand, the introduction of an age of equilibrium at age 64 (in 2027) with a bonus-malus garners a majority of unfavorable opinions (54%).

While 54% of respondents still approve of the social movement against pension reform, this does not prevent 51% of them from saying that mobilization should stop.

Finally, 41% of French people believe that Emmanuel Macron and the government are the first to blame for the social conflict. 28% reject the responsibility on the unions and 31% think that they are equally responsible.

Poll conducted Wednesday night by the Internet from a representative sample of 1,003 French aged 18 and over.
