Unemployment is rising in the county just as in the state as a whole. 7,000 people were openly unemployed in Sörmland in November, compared to 5,789 in the same months last year. 958 of the unemployed sororers signed up at the Employment Service in November.

Throughout the country, the number of people registered as unemployed at the Employment Service has increased by 25,000 in the past year. The increase applies to both native and foreign-born, but as a proportion of the labor force, fewer foreign-born are unemployed.

“Our forecast shows that the labor market remains good even though it is more subdued than before. In the future, we expect unemployment to continue to rise, ” writes Annika Sundén, Head of Analysis at the Employment Service, in a comment.

Fewer notified in the county

At the same time, the number notified of termination has decreased somewhat in Sörmland. In November last year, 130 people were notified of termination in the county. In the same month this year, only 78 were notified.

In the country as a whole, however, alerts are increasing. In November, 5,500 people were notified of dismissal in the country, 1,800 more than the same month last year.
