- We think it is important to emphasize that we have operations that have been around for a very long time and that what exists today is related to what existed in the past, says Ola Mossberg, who is the electricity network manager at Arvika.

At the center of the celebration is the power station in Säboda, which was completed in 1899 and was the first electricity supplier in Arvika. And the importance of electrification of Arvika was great.

Crucial infrastructure

- It is more or less crucial that this infrastructure was acquired. Enthusiasts drove it and some of their legacy lives on today, such as Volvo being a major player today. They come from this electrification, ”explains Ola Mossberg.

The first to sign electricity contracts was the tobacco factory. And when you take part in the agreement, which is otherwise preserved, it is clear that electricity was not for the common man at that time. The electricity price was 23 øre per kilowatt hour.

Exclusively with electricity

- Yes, it was much more exclusive to have electricity then. This is reflected in the prices. They were per kilowatt as large as those we see today on our electricity bills before VAT and tax were imposed. The basic fee is pretty much the same and it is possible, says Ola Mossberg.

In 1899 it was a big thing when the electricity came. Today it is so obvious that it becomes a big thing when it goes.

- Yes, and the expectation picture from society is increasing all the time. We have to improve our delivery quality all the time and we see how the pipes are buried because we cannot have interruptions, ”says Ola Mossberg.
