Bloomberg and Reuters reported Thursday that the United States and China have reached a principled agreement on the first phase of trade negotiations.

The first phase of the deal is only signed by President Donald Trump, Bloomberg added.

The White House is also known to have an official position soon.

Reuters said Robert Lightheimer, USTR's representative, told some senators that "the official announcement seems imminent."

President Trump said earlier that he was optimistic, saying, “We are getting very close to the big deal with China,” and they want it.

The U.S. Trade Negotiation team has called for a plan to withdraw additional tariffs on Chinese imports scheduled for 15 days and cut the existing tariff barriers by 50 percent, the Daily Wall Street Journal reported.

The United States was due to impose a 15% tariff on imports of about $ 160 billion worth of Chinese goods.

Separately, China has imposed 25% and 15% tariffs on US $ 250 billion and $ 110 billion, respectively.
