Some 22 firefighters are working on the extinguishing of the fire in a solvent recycling factory in Montmeló, in Barcelona, while Civil Protection calls citizens to close doors and windows and asks that they not approach the area of the Can Industrial Estate Buscaons de Baix. The confinement is also recommended to the people of Vilanova del Vallès.
The City of Montmeló says that "there is no chemical or toxic risk to the population" but nearby companies have been evacuated from the aforementioned polygon due to the risk of deflagration in the immediate environment.
The column of smoke seen from Montcada i Reixac is produced by the fire of the Derpin company, in Montmeló, of hazardous industrial waste.
