Berlin (AP) - Stefan Kuntz remains German Under-21 coach. The 57-year-old extended his contract with the German Football Association long term to 31 July 2023, as the DFB announced.

"I am grateful for the confidence and look forward to the upcoming tasks with the U21 national team and the Olympic team, with which we want to play for a medal in Tokyo in the summer of 2020," said Kuntz. The European champion from 1996 had taken over the DFB selection in August 2016 and 2017 led to the European title and 2019 in the European Championship final. DFB director Oliver Bierhoff described the extension as a "great sign". "Stefan enjoys a good reputation among our players and the clubs. He is a great ambassador of the DFB. »
