74.6 million donations for the Telethon! That's what the final meter of the 33rd edition showed on Sunday morning. That's 5 million more than the previous edition. This year, the participation was important, with 20,000 events in 12,500 municipalities. For Laurence Tiennot-Herment, president of the French Association against myopathies, these funds collected for research on genetic diseases announce the victories of tomorrow.

First treatments

"The French have been at the rendezvous of these thirty hours," she says at the microphone of Europe 1. "If I had been told five years ago that we would have today first treatments for these serious diseases, crippling or even deadly, I think I would not have believed it.It's a new path that begins, it was necessary to advance step by step on the path of the drug ".

"We need the mobilization of the greatest number"

According to her, thanks to the donations, the discovery of new treatments "opens the way for many other diseases, whether rare or frequent. [...] That's why we must not let go the effort, "adds Laurence Tiennot-Herment. "All the lines of the 3637 are open, they are waiting for your call, your donations depend on all the actions, all the research programs, all the clinical trials that we will be able to carry, for which we need the mobilization of the greatest number ".
