A general statement on the 75th anniversary of the Victory in World War II was adopted at a meeting of the OSCE Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs (CMFA) in Bratislava.

“We consider blasphemy any manifestations of disrespect for the monuments of soldiers and commanders of the Red Army, abuse of the graves of those who gave their lives for the liberation of Europe from the Nazis. Vandalism against such memorial sites has no justification, ”the document says.

In this regard, the countries called on all peoples to honor the memory of the heroes - liberators and to keep the military graves in proper condition.

In addition, ministers of 11 states called for compliance with the decisions of the International Military Tribunal in Nuremberg, which have no statute of limitations.

"They are outraged by the aspirations of some countries to rehabilitate and heroize Nazi criminals and their accomplices ... Silence of crimes motivated by ethnic and religious hatred will inevitably lead the world to a new catastrophe," the authors of the statement emphasized.

At the end of October, a criminal case was opened in Latvia due to the desecration of the monument to soldiers - liberators of Riga from Nazi invaders.

The Russian embassy called such acts of vandalism the result of attempts to rewrite the history of World War II.

The NSN reported that 2020 was declared the Year of Memory and Glory in Russia.
