Gianni Versace was a fashion designer who wanted to break barriers. One of his most famous collections is the bondage collection "Miss S&M" which came in 1992. With lots of leather, gold rivets and straps. Many might think it was not completely "room clean" for the catwalk, but provoked with their sexual allusions.

- He worked a lot with leather in general, was very good at that material and worked with it when he was young, says Eva Blomqvist, curator of the Borås textile museum.

Now there are about seventy garments from mainly 90s with cheerful colors and designs, innovation and provocation.

What kind of reactions do you get?

- A lot of visitors find it very beautiful, they get excited and get energy. Much that aroused feelings then, is probably easier to take day, says Eva Blomqvist, curator of the Borås textile museum.

An exhibition has previously been shown in the Crown Prince's Palace in Berlin where it was arranged by Versace expert Karl Von Der Ahé who also curates the exhibition in Borås in collaboration with the Textile Museum.

Well-known garments for Versace fans

The pop art collection 1991, is represented with, among other things, a dress with pattern print by the fashion magazine Vogue cover from different times. On top is a pearl embroidery that also goes down the back, an exclusive needlework. Cost? Yes, maybe around SEK 50,000 - Versace's garments are collectors' items and large parts of the exhibition in Borås come from a private collector.

How much does the exhibition for the Textile Museum cost?

- One million to rent, in addition to the designer, construction, transport, insurance, marketing and new mannequins. It will be up to three million in total, but then we have got sponsors who take part of the cost, collaboration partners, says Eva Blomqvist.

Is it a good investment?

- We hope so, with the fact that many visitors come not only from Borås, but large parts of Sweden, says Eva Blomqvist, curator of the Borås textile museum.

The exhibition runs until April 12, 2020.
