For 2020, the company has purchased an additional ten lorries that will be put into service following a technical upgrade in the spring, something that Sydsvenskan was the first to report.

- Over the past two years, we have seen a strong increase in demand and willingness to travel abroad. We sold out virtually all trips this summer and saw that there is opportunity to drive more, hence this investment, says Marco Andersson, marketing manager at Snälltåget to SVT.

The investment in the new carriages will mean a much greater capacity to receive passengers. This year, the Snälltåget has driven about 15,000 travelers on the route. Next year, the train company hopes to reach 40,000 travelers.

"Greta effect"

Marco Andersson believes that one of the reasons for the growing interest in train travel out in Europe is that more and more people are discussing emissions and considering more environmentally friendly alternatives.

- In the past, we have been very good at flying abroad and the trains have had a thinning life. Now more and more people seem to want to go more sustainable and are prepared to take a little more time. Abroad is talked about the Greta effect and it may have been recorded in her home country as well, he says.
