SMHI warns of freezing rain and lightning storms in almost the entire country. The cause is a warm front moving in from the west during Tuesday.

"It's cold now all over Sweden and before the air and road surfaces come up on the plus side, there will be rain falling on cold roadways," says Moa Hallberg, meteorologist at SMHI.

In large parts of the Västra Götaland region, lightning is warned during Tuesday morning, among others in Bohuslän, Greater Gothenburg and Sjuhärad.

Swedish Transport Administration: "Be careful"

The Swedish Transport Administration calls on everyone who has to get out on the roads during Tuesday to be careful.

- As always, it is important to ensure that you have good tires, keep good distances in the traffic, do not stress and that you yourself also stay updated on what SMHI goes out with for warnings, says Eva Rehnström, press communicator at the Swedish Transport Administration.

Ishalka is treacherous and the road surface can vary in just a few hundred meters, according to Eva Rehnström.

"So it's not just possible to drive, but you have to be observant all the time when it's this type of road law," she says.

On Wednesday, the weather has changed and it will be mild and plus degrees all the way up to northern Norrland, according to SMHI.
