“Pushilin proposes to amend Article 10 of the DPR Constitution, defining the status of the Russian language as the only state language in the republic. This need is due to the intensive integration process of the DPR with Russia, ”the press service of the DPR People’s Council said in a statement.
Also, according to the consideration by the parliamentarians introduced by Pushilin of the draft law, which proposes amendments to the law "On Education", the DPR is supposed to preserve the rules on the compulsory study of Russian as a state, and make Ukrainian and other languages taught according to the wishes of "parents and the possibilities of an educational organization."
“The exclusion of the Ukrainian language from the state language does not diminish its significance and does not violate the rights of DPR citizens, in particular, to use the Ukrainian language as a language of private communication,” the press service emphasized.
In early July, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that he did not see a problem with the use of the Russian language in the Donbass.
