Six people including three rescuers were killed in violent weather in southeastern France. A week before, heavy rains had already killed six other people in the area.

Three rescuers were killed in the night of 1 to 2 December north of Marseille in the crash of their helicopter, while they went to help the inhabitants of the Côte d'Azur affected by the weather. An investigation has been opened for the moment, the hypothesis considered is that of an accident due to poor visibility caused by fog.

The device was spotted shortly before 1:15 by an army helicopter in the town of Rove (Bouches-du-Rhone), in the heart of the Nerthe Massif, nearly five hours after disappearing from radar screens, said Interior Minister Christophe Castaner, who visited the scene of the crash.

Their commitment and their courage were greeted by President Macron and Christophe Castaner.

Three other dead victims of bad weather

Three people were swept away by the waters in the South-East: A shepherd trapped in his car as he crossed a ford and a resident of Frejus who wanted to shelter his horses. Then in the day, the body of a woman missing since Monday morning was found in a stream of Alpes-Haute-Provence Saint-Maime Dauphin during the day.

In Fréjus precisely, as in several communes around already flooded the last weekend, the nursery and primary schools are closed this Monday. In the neighboring department of the Alpes-Maritimes, and in particular in the coastal towns of Cannes and Mandelieu, where several districts have been flooded, it is all the schools to the high schools that will remain closed.

If the return of the sun is expected today on this region of the South-East, the Vaucluse, the Bouches-du-Rhone and the Var remain placed in orange vigil because of risks of flood always important.
