Queens of lapland consists of 24 players from different parts of Västerbotten inland. The idea is that later you should also be able to pull together workouts and competition matches for hockey girls and ladies inland. Former Modo player and homecoming Molly Marcusson is one of the team members.

For the third year in a row, girls from Northern Sweden will gather and this year a record number of people have registered. The organizers are now considering expanding the cup further to next year.

- The fact that there are so many people who signed up shows that there is a need. Some of these girls usually play in mixed teams, so it can mean a lot for them to come here and play together with other girls, says Håkan Blomqvist, one of the organizers.

"Getting more real"

Molly Marcusson thinks it is important for hockey-interested girls to meet and play with each other because it is difficult to get together a whole girl team inland.

- It feels fun to be in such a big cup with girls from almost half the country. It is more true to play with several girls than to just play a match now and then, she says.
