November 26, 2019 "Once again we confirm the fact that we must team up, not only among the majority forces. We also address the presidents of the regions because they are pushing for security projects. We are available for comparison, the goal is common: act in an articulated way to counter hydrogeological risks: the more we will act on maintenance and prevention, the more we will avoid risks to the population to eliminate the number of deaths ". Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said this during a press conference at Palazzo Chigi, which revealed that the regions spend only a part, about 20%, of the resources available.

Appeal to the regions
"the money is there and we are willing to support it - Conte says to governors again - for a common goal: to act in a structured way to secure the territory and combat hydrogeological instability, which this year has already brought us 34 deaths "We need to make more teams to have less risk for the population and a number of deaths that, as we hope, will go down to zero."

The emergency plan
"To cope with the hydrogeological instability we have the 'protect Italy' plan, which aims to secure the territory on an organic level, we cannot only work in emergency for the flaws in the Italian system, we must act in prevention. With Proteggi Italia we act in prevention: a plan that must be exposed to the improvement of new ministers and new majority forces, because we cannot start all over again every time. The Plan is our starting point, then we also have 'Strategy Italy', the strategy booth for interventions, to plan investments in structural prevention ".

Monthly meetings for Venice
On Venice a "technical table has been opened that will bring its results to the next meeting" to "reorganize the special law for Venice, on the level of an update: we have seen that we must update it". "We have agreed that from now on we must have the maximum information coordination with a monthly table that local authorities can also participate in. We will have another Comitatone meeting before Christmas, in the meantime we have left each other with homework. house including an in-depth reflection on the governance of the lagoon system with particular regard to the Mose that we will finish as soon as possible ".

The special law
We also need to deepen, at another technical table, the reorganization of the special law on Venice, updating it: it is a law designed some time ago and in the forecasts it must be updated. Finally from now on we must have the maximum information coordination on a monthly basis in which even the local authorities will be able to participate and discuss. In the course of time the competences have been defined and we risk a chipping, we have to intervene ".

A story dragged on for years
"On Venice we are satisfied to have taken up the dossier, we have allocated various funds, but beyond the sums, what was born is a comparison with the authorities involved, local authorities, supervisory authorities and stakeholders and we are in the final stages of events that have been dragging on for a long time. We are talking about criticalities accumulated over the years ".

We will finish the Mose
"We need to define an in-depth reflection on the governance of the lagoon system and on the Mose, which we will finish in the shortest possible time".
