The Lucia train in Piteå is set - too few are interested

We meet some of the members of the Lions in Piteå as they enter next year's calendars which are given away in Christmas presents and where the inventory goes in full for research on the skeletal disease.

The good atmosphere is somewhat dampened by the fact that this year's Lucia is set.

-With most years we have had ten to 15 Lucia candidates. But in recent years we have seen a significant reduction in applications, says Christer Olsson, Lions Piteå.

Christer Olsson says that Lions throughout the country have the same problem. In Piteå, the concept has been changed from voting on a number of candidates to selecting a number who have been allowed to attend a coronation and where the Lions drew who is appointed to Lucia. But that has not solved the problem.

- In the past, it was grandmother and grandmother who wanted the grandchild to join. But now it may not be as common.

Before next year, Lions in Piteå will find partners to help with a Lucia train.

- Strömbackaskan's aesthetic line and Framnäs College of Music have their own trains and we will see if they can help us reach the elderly who are our target group, Christer Olsson explains.
