With these accusations, the Finance Guard of Ancona arrested the general manager of Manifattura Tabacchi in Chiaravalle, and the person in charge of relations with foreign customers. Also arrested four other people, as part of an investigation by the Gico of the Guardia di Finanza of Ancona for an international traffic of smuggled cigarettes of 100 million euros.Tax evasion for 73 million
According to the 'Duty free' survey, loads of cigarettes (about 520 tons) would have started from the Italian Tobacco Factory in Chiaravalle, formally destined for non-EU countries, but actually headed for EU countries, with tax evasion equal to at 73 million euros.
Smuggling since 2011
The smuggling activity would begin in November 2011. The transnational criminal association is disputed by the arrested (the two MIT officials are under house arrest). The yellow flames charged the suspects with assets worth 78 million euros, on the orders of the magistrate.
