The dissident candidate LREM in the municipal elections of Paris Cédric Villani called for a referendum to "adopt the new system of pensions", a proposal rejected immediately by the boss of the movement Stanislas Guerini.

"In the end, for this system, for these pensions to be well accepted, for all the population to grasp it, we need a referendum," proposed the LREM MP from Essonne Thursday evening on BFM Paris.

"A referendum that will come after six months of public debate, a referendum in which the question that will be asked will be developed by all partners, a referendum that would say to France: + we have taken this step together, we have adopted this new pension system +, "he said.

"I think it is a major reform that must be done now," said Villani, who wants a "fair, universal, fair system" and said "wholeheartedly with Jean-Paul Delevoye (the top - pension commissioner, Ed.) on the preparation of this reform ".

"It does not seem relevant to me," reacted Friday on Public Senate Stanislas Guerini. "The moment is not to think about the competition Lépine means, forms, etc.," he quipped.

According to him, the pension reform "which was at the heart of the presidential program that brought the President of the Republic does not require a referendum".

The general delegate of LREM however excluded to punish Mr Villani for this proposal. "You realize, if I had to take action every time someone came up with an idea, I'm not a commissioner of political thought," he said.

Cédric Villani is competing for the conquest of the mayor of Paris, with the official candidate of LREM Benjamin Griveaux.
