The UTK Hall had demolition law to remove an old tent structure that housed four tennis courts. In addition, they had building permits to, at the same site, build a new sports hall with space for tennis, paddle and badminton. The building permit also had approval for a new entrance section. However, a start message was missing when work started. In order for the building committee to give the building a start notice, the new property must fulfill several different property requirements. This can, for example, concern ventilation, fire safety and accessibility.

- If you break the rules, we will levy penalty fees. It is unfortunate for all parties, but it is important to follow the law that applies, says Anders A Aronsson, 1st Deputy Chairman of the Planning and Building Committee.

"Strikes hard against a nonprofit association"

Now the company UTK-hallen AB is forced to pay SEK 2,351,412 in construction penalty fees - if you do not restore everything and remove the new building, which is almost completed. Aktiebolaget UTK-Hall is associated with Upsala Tennis Club.

- The sanction charge hits a nonprofit association with a turnover of approximately SEK 7 million. Both the AB UTK Hall and Upsala Tennis Club are affected, AB Chairman Lasse Nordström writes in a statement.

The penalty charge is stated to be due to an error and the decision will be appealed, Lasse Nordström announces.
