REPORTAGE

Mirepoix-sur-Tarn (Haute-Garonne) wounds its wounds, two days after the tragedy that killed two people and injured several, some of whom are still in the hospital. While the weight of the truck, "more than 50 tons", would be responsible for the fall of the bridge dating from 1931, the town is working to help the victims of this disaster. Its mayor, Eric Oget met Tuesday evening an exceptional city council to vote several measures of mutual aid.

A white march in ten days

The first of these measures is direct financial assistance for the families of the victims who would like it, notably to participate in funeral expenses. Mirepoix-sur-Tarn will also organize a "white march" that should take place in ten days, Saturday, November 30. Finally, in a time of mourning, the city has chosen to cancel "all the demonstrations on the end of the year celebrations". "Unfortunately, it makes sense to respect all this," comments the mayor.

Initiatives already welcomed by the Mirapiciens. "The city has always given its support when it can to its people," agrees Sonia. "The pain is so important that we do not think about these financial aspects, we are a small village, we are here to help each other". Like all the citizens of Mirepoix-sur-Tarn, she will receive a letter in the coming days, with the elements of the investigation to summarize very factually what happened on the road bridge that the city intends to rebuild the most quickly possible. Eric Oget wants to advance as quickly as possible with the prefect, especially on a schedule of demolition work and reconstruction of a new structure.
