On Tuesday evening, 25 stowaways were found in a cooling container on a ship near Vlaardingen. The emergency services have therefore been flocked en masse to Vulcaanhaven, where the ferry to England is docked again.
There has been scaled up to GRIP-1. This means that emergency services must work together due to the extent of the incident. The stowaways are now taken off board by the emergency services.
The group will first receive the medical assistance they need, according to the Rotterdam-Rijnmond Security Region. It is not immediately clear how they are doing. "The ship reported earlier that no people died."
Ambulances from different regions are en masse on the spot. A trauma helicopter has also been called.
The Red Cross has sent two emergency teams at the request of the emergency services. The teams, consisting of a total of sixteen care providers, may assist the ambulance personnel in providing assistance to slightly injured people.
