Trade unions after trade unions threaten to go on strike in Finland. This is when a big mail strike now enters its second week.

According to the trade union PAU (Finland's Postal and Logistics Union), the employer's proposal for a new collective agreement may mean salary reductions of 30-50 percent for the employees. 9,000 postal workers went on strike last week. And now several other Finnish trade unions are making decisions on sympathy measures.

One of them is the Finnish Seamen's Union - and it can now also affect Swedish travelers.

The vessels may remain standing

As of Monday morning, November 25, they threaten to stop all vessels flying under the Finnish flag. This means that a large part of the boat traffic between Sweden and Finland stops.

“Passenger ships under the Finnish flag, and arriving at Finnish port after 10 pm. 06, will remain in port and members of the Finnish Seamen's Union will no longer follow the ships out to sea, ”they write on their website.

"It's really boring"

If the conflict is not resolved before then, almost all Viking Line vessels, Silja Line vessels Silja Senerade and Baltic Princess and the passenger traffic with Wasaline between Umeå and Vaasa are affected.

- It is very sad if it goes so that our travelers will suffer. But I don't think you should be worried, I hope the parties resolve it well before then, says Hans Friberg, chief operating officer at Tallink Silja AB.

He promises information to travelers if the strike measures are implemented. So was Wasaline.

- If it becomes, you have to book or get the money back. We follow the development and go out well with information to the travelers, says Peter Stålhberg, CEO of Wasaline.

Six Viking Line vessels are affected

For Viking Line travelers, traffic on the vessels Mariella Mariella, Gabriella, Amorella, Viking Grace and Rosella is affected.

“Since we are not a party to this battle, we can only regret the situation that has arisen. Our hope is that the parties will agree as soon as possible and find a constructive solution to the conflict. We will inform you later about any relocation and cancellation procedures for bookings, ”the company writes on its website.
