Patrons of the beaches of Al-Bidyah and Dibba Al-Fujairah reported that dead dogs were poisoned by some parents who had put a deadly poison to get rid of them after they were disturbed by their spread in the area.

Fujairah Municipality said that it is intensifying its campaigns against the spread of loose cats, dogs and poisonous reptiles in the emirate and neighboring areas, to reduce its increasing presence in residential neighborhoods, roads and farms, pointing out that the actions of some parents or some nationalities of poisoning dogs is unacceptable It poses great danger to the people of the region and the environment.

Mohammed Saeed, a resident of Al-Badia, said that the responsible authorities do not take seriously to get rid of the number of loose dogs, as they breed and move in groups, which terrifies the people of the area.

He explained that poisoning loose dogs with the intention of killing them is the option available to parents, but the results on the environment may be unfortunately negative, especially as the beaches became the destination of the parents during the winter period, which may expose children to health problems with the presence of dead dogs.

Mariam Obeid, a resident of Dibba Al Fujairah, said that the disposal of loose dogs by the people of the area is unacceptable and should be held accountable.

She pointed out that the competent authorities work in a thoughtful and orderly manner, and follow methods in the fight against them without causing harm to the environment and people.

Ali Khamis, a resident of Bidiya, appealed to the responsible authorities to get rid of the dead dogs, which pose a great danger to the animals, as fish may feed on these poisoned dogs in case someone threw them into the sea water, which would cause harm to human health if they feed on these fish.

He called for the need to prevent parents from poisoning dogs, and consider the cause of death.

The deputy director of Fujairah Municipality, Abdullah Al-Hantoubi, said that the parents are not authorized to act in bulk dogs randomly.The poisoning poses a danger to the person himself and other people because he does not know how to deal with these substances.Also leaving the poison in place in order to attract dogs is an environmental hazard to other animals.

He explained that the inspectors of the Control Division intensify their campaigns against the phenomenon of the spread of cats and loose dogs, and reptile poisonous, in the emirate and adjacent areas, to reduce its growing presence in residential neighborhoods, roads and farms, and also periodically survey the areas to reach the places where bulk dogs and predators gather and deal with them.
