Commanders of the British Army have allegedly covered up war crimes in Afghanistan and Iraq, including the torture of children or the killing of civilians , according to secret documents reported by the Sunday Times and the BBC on Sunday .

The government keeps those documents reserved, which apparently reveal that senior military commanders have tried to keep secret war crimes by British troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, these British media report.

The investigation has revealed murders by a soldier of the SAS special forces of the Army and also torture, beatings or sexual abuse of detainees by Black Watch , an infantry battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.

The military detectives who have carried out this investigation also discovered possible cases of forgery of documents , a crime for which the responsible military could be prosecuted, the media said.

These tests arose during two investigations of war crimes - one called Operation Northmoor on Afghanistan and another related to Iraq -, which were apparently closed in 2017 by then Defense Minister Michael Fallon, before the case came to justice , says the Sunday Times .

"Key decisions were withdrawn from our hands. There was pressure from the Ministry of Defense to close cases as quickly as possible," said an investigator, who maintained anonymity.

The proprietor points out that these revelations can reach the International Criminal Court, forced to take action when countries do not prosecute the military in case of violations of the Geneva conventions relating to war.

The newspaper cites the cases of the murder of three children and a young man while they were drinking tea at his home in Afghanistan in October 2012 , who were reportedly shot in the head at close range of a SAS soldier, and also abuses of prisoners in the Summer 2003 in the Stephen camp in the Iraqi city of Basra.

Investigators, according to the BBC newspaper and the Panorama program, were able to gather thousands of testimonies from British soldiers and witnesses, as well as documentation.
