This Sunday exactly 20 years have passed since the death of Enrique Urquijo and Madrid has paid homage to the memory and compositions of this artist in a concert that is both sad and joyful in which friends, fans and audiences have sung and danced their songs.

It was on November 17, 1999 when his body was found lifeless in a portal in the Madrid neighborhood of Malasaña , victim of an overdose. He was 39 years old.

About twenty artists have gathered tonight at the WiZink Center in Madrid to remember the most famous compositions of this Madrid singer, who founded 'Los Secretos' , one of the mythical sets of Spanish pop of the 80s, along with his brothers Álvaro and Javier and composed songs that have sung several generations, so that they are already part of the memory and musical history of the country.

A tribute that has begun remembering the mythical halls of Madrid that hosted the first concerts of the group. And the scene has been transformed into the Galileo Galilei hall , which has turned 35 this year, the last one that Enrique Urquijo stepped on a few months before he died, on July 22.

From that stage, artists who were friends or, younger, admirers of his music, have interpreted several of Enrique's compositions: San Damián has started with 'Hoy la vi'; Dani Flaco has been the next to remind him with 'Hoy no' and Jorge Marazu , for whom Urquijo was the reason why he is dedicated to music today he has performed 'And it is not dawn'.

And Rafa Higueras has performed the song that, he said, composed the day Enrique died: 'I want to drink until I lose control' .

A second part of the concert has been symphonic , in which songs like 'Although you don't know' or 'I started today', have been performed by an orchestra and with the components of 'The Secrets'.

Álvaro Urquijo has thanked the public for having made Enrique's songs last for generations and have been able to give 'Los Secretos' a second life.

Another artist who has remembered the influence of this group has been the Galician Andrés Suárez , who has been accompanied by 'Los Secretos' while singing another of Enrique Urquijo's songs, a piece he sang years ago in the Metro upon arrival to Madrid.

David Summers with the mythical 'Eyes of loss'; Mikel Erentxun with 'I can't imagine', and Coque Malla with 'This is another afternoon' have been the most danced of the night while Rozalén has sung the emotional 'Hold on to my Maria'.

"When we started we had very few references and one of them was Miguel Ríos, " recalled Álvaro Urquijo, an artist who has accompanied them tonight and whom the public has received standing, and who has sung with him 'In the bar from the bar '.

Manolo García, with 'The Street of Oblivion'; Amaral , with 'Good girl'; and Alejo Stivel , with 'On a wet glass', have been other artists who have participated in the concert.

"Thanks to him it all started," Álvaro said introducing his brother Javier, who was part of the band at the beginning. And both have performed the most famous of all their well-known songs 'Leave me' .

And finally, of course, 'I've missed you today' , as the followers of 'Los Secretos' continue to miss Enrique Urquijo.
