The Saudi judiciary has sentenced five officials to initial prison terms on financial and administrative corruption charges of wasting public funds, disposing of government property, trading in government jobs, and illicit enrichment.

The sentences of the five officials were more than 32 years old, and were fined up to nine million Saudi riyals with their personal money confiscated, the official SPA news agency reported on Friday.

The Public Prosecution has collected more than 300 evidence and presumption against the defendants, and presented them in the list of public proceedings of the competent court in this regard, which resulted in the issuance of a series of judgments against convicts exceeding a total of 32 years, in addition to financial penalties exceeding nine million riyals, with the confiscation of funds Existing in their personal accounts.

Among those convicted in these cases, an official arrested in the act of receiving bribes to pass some irregular procedures, in addition to participating in the falsification of a customary editor, and convicting him of exploiting his influence to achieve a personal interest. Sentences of 12 years and a fine exceeding one million riyals.

Another official was convicted of participating in the agreement by falsifying a customary editor, receiving and possessing sums derived from the crime of bribery, and engaging in trade despite being a public official.

Judicial rulings, issued in accordance with the Public Prosecution's claim, also affected some commercial entities, which were fined and deprived of contracting with any public authority for a specified period in accordance with the relevant penal regulations.
