The new cameras are set up along a stretch of County Road 140 between Visby and Klintehamn.
- Road 140 has a very high volume of traffic. Especially in the summer, there can be three times as much traffic. That's why we have chosen that route, says Nils Högfeldt, traffic engineer at the Swedish Transport Administration on Gotland.
Gotland has only had two cameras since November 2006, located just outside the Roma community.
- The roads are in line to get these traffic safety cameras. Gotland may well have come a little late in this thinking, thinks Nils Högfeldt.
The Swedish Transport Administration also plans to set up more cameras on other roads in Gotland.
- I know it is underway 148 so there will probably be just as many there I would think, says Nils Högfeldt.
