This was reported by the newspaper "Vedomosti" with reference to the refusal of the Constitutional Court on the basis of the consideration of complaints of the former colonel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Dmitry Zakharchenko, as well as his relatives and friends.

It is noted that in 2017, the Nikulinsky court of Moscow seized property worth more than 9 billion rubles from them, as it considered that the applicants' official income did not allow them to purchase so many cars and real estate.

At the same time, the applicants, including parents and sister Zakharchenko, as well as former girlfriends, considered it unlawful to apply the rules on control over the expenses of civil servants to them.

In turn, the Constitutional Court noted that such confiscation is among the “special legal measures”, its purpose is to effectively combat corruption and protect constitutionally significant values.

The lawyer of ex-Colonel Zakharchenko Alexander Gorbatenko said that the Constitutional Court "actually put an end to this dispute." According to Gorbatenko, "now the property of any person can be turned into state revenue if he does not prove the legitimacy of his origin."

In June, a court sentenced Zakharchenko to 13 years in prison and stripped him of his rank. Also, by court decision, he must pay a fine of 117 million rubles.

In October, the Moscow City Court reduced Zakharchenko's term to 12.5 years.
