Harissama mayonnaise, steamed cabbage, dragon pickled carrot and cashewricotta are some of the ingredients in Sweden's best sandwich "Kål me Carrot". The competition was held in Stockholm on Friday and the podium was dominated by Skåne sandwiches.

Viktor Lind is from Älmhult but lives for a time in Malmö where he runs the restaurant Scandwich. He is behind the vegan winning team and says that he has drawn inspiration from the current fall.

- It means a lot to get a receipt for what I do in everyday life is high class. My ambition is to be involved and contribute to an increased interest in the sandwich as a meal, a sandwich can be so much more than it usually is, says Viktor Lind in a press release.

In second place came the wellness condenser Cornelia Malm with her vegetarian mack Grantopp and in third place Gabriel Olsson from Kristianstad with her climate smart mack Pea Powerplant.

During the competition day, each finalist, in just 45 minutes, created 20 similar sandwiches which were then judged by a jury based on the criteria of taste, appearance, innovation and hygiene.

Mack-SM is organized by the industry organization Sweden's bakers & confectioners and aims to select the country's tastiest, most useful and trendiest lunch snack. The winner is awarded a scholarship of SEK 10,000 to use for industry-related educational purposes.
