“Given the circumstances that have now come to our knowledge via the media regarding Kåre Friberg, we see that his confidence is exhausted. Therefore, he can no longer represent the Moderates and the Alliance in Motala, regardless of the outcome of the upcoming legal process, ”writes the local branch in a post on Facebook.

"Regardless of the legal outcome, Kåre Friberg cannot pursue issues without this issue being constantly addressed, therefore he cannot continue to serve as a municipal council," the post continues.

Arrested on Thursday

Friberg was arrested by police on Thursday evening. He was later arrested for probable cause, which is the higher degree of suspicion.

When SVT Öst spoke with his lawyer Morgan Gerdin, he did not want to say anything about how Friberg stands for the crime suspects.

Anna Nilsson, chairman of the Moderates County Association in Östergötland, said that the news is terrible and that Friberg must take time out.

The municipal council's first deputy chairman, Kenneth Söderman (L), replaces Friberg as chairman of the municipal council in Motala.
