The strike is announced by the German union for cabin crew, Ufo, and will start at midnight, night to Thursday and last for 48 hours.

Ufo says the strike will affect all airlines' flights starting in Germany.

However, Lufthansa's CEO hopes to avert the strike through late negotiations, CEO Carsten Spohr has invited Ufo and two other unions on Wednesday night.

Cabin crew unions say it is carrying out the strike when the lock-up with Lufthansa's management is complete. Lufthansa, in turn, accuses Ufo of not having a mandate to represent the cabin crew.
