A recent statistic of the General Authority for Pensions and Social Insurance revealed that the number of citizens participating in the pension system until the end of last year, exceeded 86.8 thousand citizens, and that 64% of the participants are female. Employees of the federal government occupy the highest percentage of the number of participants in the Authority, with a total of 39,765 citizens, while the number of participants working in the local authorities reached 27,789 citizens, compared to 19,267 participants from private sector employers.

The pension is granted to the insured who spends 15 years of service at the age of 60, the age of retirement. The insured who spends 20 years in service shall also be entitled to a pension upon resignation, provided that he reaches the age of 50 years.

In detail, the General Authority for Pensions and Social Insurance stated that the total number of citizens participating in the pension system at the Authority reached 86,821, as of the end of last year, distributed among the three labor sectors in the country, including 31,396 male citizens, more than 36 Percentage of the total number of participants, compared to 55,425 females, approximately 64% of the total subscribers to the Authority.

The Authority, in an official statistic recently aired on its official website, announced that the number of participants from the federal government sector reached 39,765 citizens, including 28,505 females, or 70.5%, compared to 11,715 males, or 29.5%. The number of citizens participating in the local government sector reached 27,789, including 14,775 females, or 52%, compared to 13,214 males, or 48%, of the total participants in the sector.

According to official statistics, the total number of citizens participating in the Authority from private sector companies and institutions reached 19,267 citizens, including 12,800 women, 66.4%, compared to 6467 males, or 33.6% of the total number of participants in the sector.

On the other hand, the Authority called on the employers to commit to register and pay the participation of each citizen who joins its work teams within a month at most from joining the work, stressing that «registration alone is not enough to meet the obligations of the employers for the insured, unless it is obliged to pay the contributions assessed monthly ».

The Authority estimated the monthly contributions at 20% of the salary of the contribution account on the employer in the public and private sectors, of which the insured bears 5%, while the government bears 2.5% of the percentage of the employer in the private sector in support of citizens and to encourage the employer to resettle.

The Authority pointed out that there are several cases of granting the pension, without age, including (death, disability or lack of health fitness), stressing that the pension is also granted upon separation, dismissal or referral to the pension by a disciplinary decision, with a period of 15 years in service.

It shall also be granted upon separation by decree. The insured in the private sector upon termination for health reasons that threaten his life shall be endangered if he continues his work, provided that it is proved by a medical decision.
