WASHINGTON (Reuters) - US President Donald Trump on Sunday criticized California Governor Gavin Newsam in a series of tweets on Twitter for his handling of devastating wildfires in the state.

Newspam, a Democrat, "has done a terrible job of managing forests," Trump said.

Trump wrote in a tweet: "California Governor Gavin Newsam has done a terrible job in managing forests," Bloomberg reported.

In another tweet, Trump told Newsam that the state would no longer receive money from the federal government to help with the case.

In a recent tweet, Trump said California was in dire need of water and called for "ridiculously closed waterways from the north" to be opened. "Don't do it in the Pacific."

Trump's remarks about California, which he wrote in a tweet in August 2018, were repeated that "bad environmental laws" and the diversion of water were behind the wildfires in the state.
